Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent with average reading, writing and oral communications skills
  • Working knowledge of direct patient care
  • Basic knowledge of Unit Secretary functions
  • Proof of: EMT training or successful completion of Nursing Assistant Program or Medical Assistant Program OR Equivalent education such as successful completion of required rotation with total patient care at Nursing School and passing grade on the Nursing Assistant test

Licensure/Registration/Certification:
  • BLS - American Heart Association
  • In designated areas, CNA is required

Desired Qualifications:
  • Certified Nursing Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

Performs as a Unit Secretary at least 50% of the time and functions as a Nursing Assistant as assigned. Performs clerical and reception duties to maintain efficient operation of the department. Assists in the continuity of patient care delivery within an assigned area by providing direct personal care, rehabilitative measures, and supportive services. This position is under the direction of a physician, RN, or LPN over an assigned area when functioning as a Nursing Assistant.
