Working in our Med/Surg hospital unit, the Health Unit Coordinator, with oversight by the supervisor, provides exceptional customer service to patients and visitors through welcoming behaviors, effective communication and information sharing. Independently performs clerical/receptionist functions on a patient care unit. Facilitates communication between staff, patients, families, and care providers, as well as between the unit and other hospital departments. Organizes and maintains unit supplies necessary for daily activities, prepares and maintains patient records, performs data entry in to the computerized system. Simultaneously manages many activities impacting patient care. Provides exceptional customer service to patients, visitors and providers. Performs related duties as assigned. Assists licensed staff with patient care activities as needed/as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Must be a graduate of a Medical Secretary Course or like experience past 2 years or Nursing Student with medical terminology experience.
  • Must have competency in computer, fax and multiple line phone systems.
  • Candidate must possess excellent customer service skills; portray positive interactions both in person and on the phone, problem solving and ability to balance the needs of the guests and colleagues alike.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Must be able to meet facility required physical job requirements.
NAR’s are welcome to apply. Must be current and in good standing on the MN NAR Registry. Current BLS certification is also required of all NAR’s.
Schedule:
This position works 12-hour shifts from 8AM-8:30PM with the following 6-week schedule:
Week 1 – Thursday
Week 2 – Mon/Tues/Wed
Week 3 – Fri/Sat/Sun
Week 4 – Thursday
Week 5 – Monday
Week 6 – Fri/Sat/Sun
Holiday Schedule:
This position is scheduled to work an every third holiday.
