Registered Nurse (Obstetrics) Job Opening

Coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing care in the clinical setting with a special emphasis on the care of obstetrical/neonatal patients.

Carries out established routine for patient in labor; evaluates patient’s condition, recognizes high risk situations; initiates emergency measures as outlined in procedure manual.

Prepares patient for delivery or if cesarean section is ordered, transfers patient to cesarean section room.

Sets up for deliver and carries out established delivery room routine; assists physician during delivery.

Gives immediate care and evaluates conditions of newborn and mother.

Obtains medical history, perinatal history.

Performs vaginal exam to determine: cervical dilation, effacement, fetal presentation and station, and status of amniotic membranes.

Monitors maternal vital signs, fetal heart rate and uterine contractions.

Observes mother in recovery room.

Cleans equipment, restocks and prepares for next delivery.
