Job Summary:

Provide support services, including teaching, and assisting with skill development in independent living, rehabilitation and socialization/recreation to adults diagnosed as having serious disabling mental illness (SDMI). These services are provided under the direction of Adult Case managers. Under general supervision, this position provides rehabilitation and independent living skill support services to adults with severe and persistent mental illness. This position must be capable of working as part of a team and function with a minimal amount of direct supervision. Part time and/or full time positions available.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the provision of services described in the adult’s individual treatment plan to include one-on-one supervision, activities of daily living, role performance, and community integration/community living skills.
  • Work as a team member with ACM staff, other clinical staff, other service providers, and families; providing support, skill training, guidance, advocacy, and socialization to adults per assignment.
  • Encourage and support adult’s work on treatment goals and objectives in least restrictive environment.
  • Assist with outings, activities, and transportation as needed.
  • Teach and Assist in meal preparation, i.e. cooking, cleanup, food preparation.
  • Teach and assist in housekeeping, appropriate hygiene, and laundry.
  • Provide positive role modeling for adults.
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate mental health laws, confidentiality, and consumer rights.
  • Complete paperwork in a timely, thorough manner, as required.
  • Maintain a positive and cooperative professional relationship with community and other professionals.
  • Other duties as outlined by supervisor.

Ability to communicate information (orally and in writing) clearly, concisely, and respectfully to clients, families, other professionals, and agencies. Ability to teach skills individually and in group activities. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the agency, with consumers, and with other staff. Ability to exercise judgment and make independent decisions as appropriate. Ability to perform tasks without direct supervision. Ability to follow established work schedule and be flexible with changing demands on time management. Ability to seek assistance from colleagues and/or supervisor as needed.

Education & Experience:

The above knowledge and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s Degree and at least two years’ experience working with persons with SDMI or Developmental Disabilities. Experience in activity planning and facilitation as well as advocacy experience preferred. Valid Montana driver’s license, auto insurance with 100/300 bodily injury coverage, and own transportation required.

Wednesday - Sunday; hours negotiable
