• Vermillion, South DakotaThe University of South Dakota, nationally ranked for research and academics, is currently seeking two full-time, benefit-eligible faculty members for the Department of Occupational Therapy in the School of Health Sciences as part of expanded program offerings, which include the entry-level and post-professional doctoral degrees in Occupational Therapy. Prospective applicants should demonstrate expertise in neurorehabilitation or healthcare management, and have a strong background in pathophysiology and biomechanics. The Occupational Therapy Department resides in the newly constructed Sanford Coyote Sports Center with state of the art classroom and laboratory space and technology, including a driving simulator, Dynavision, an Activities of Daily Living Suite equipped with remote patient monitoring systems, and a teaching and learning lab. Our students have access to a cadaver lab with advanced learner-centered technology and simulation center. The Occupational Therapy Doctorate program was granted a 7-year accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) in 2016. The program has a strong foundation in science and occupation, and boasts an overall 98% first-time pass rate on the NBCOT exam since the inception of the program. As members of the School of Health Sciences, Occupational Therapy faculty and students engage in interprofessional study and scholarly activity with colleagues from Addiction Studies, Basic Biomedical Sciences, Dental Hygiene, Health Sciences, Medical Laboratory Science, Medicine, Nursing, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, Public Health, and Social Work.

Applicants must have an earned doctorate, eligibility for an OT license in SD, and teaching and/or research experience. The successful candidate will be required to engage in substantial research leading toward national significance in alignment with scholarly productivity guidelines.
Responsibilities will include teaching in the candidate’s area(s) of expertise in a manner consistent with the department’s curriculum philosophy and design, and mentoring students in faculty-led research. The candidate is expected to fulfill the tripartite academic role of educator-scholar-citizen.
Salary/Compensation: Appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor is dependent on qualifications and experience. Salary is commensurate with rank and experience. A start-up package to support research efforts is available to the successful candidate who holds a doctoral degree and has an established research agenda.
