Corizon Health has an exceptional opportunity for a Regional Director of Nursing (RDON) to join our healthcare team at Maryland Regional Office, located in Hanover, MD.
Responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes safety and well-being of all patients in the assigned region of correctional facilities on a 24 hour basis. Plans, directs, coordinates and evaluates the overall clinical nursing practice and administrative activities including material and human resource management.
Participates in the development and implementation of Corizon policies and procedures. Maintains open communication with all staff to promote improvement in performance. Assumes the role of Site DON as needed.
Plans the delivery of comprehensive nursing care within the framework established by the corrections system and contacts/agreements. Organizes the delivery of nursing care within the corrections environment to achieve quality and efficient utilization of resources.
Interprets regulations and standards, and communicates nursing philosophy and objectives to nursing staff. Provides guidance and direction to the region/state regarding state licensure, accreditation and regulatory agency requirements.
Verifies required annual licensures and credentialing requirements for the nursing personnel of the region.
Develops, maintains and evaluates an environment that empowers and supports the nurse in analysis of assessment data to determine relevant problems and diagnosis.
Implements Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement for nursing services.
Participates in multidisciplinary, multi-agency teams to represent the nursing function in all planning that may affect nursing work at the delivery level.
Contributes operational, end user perspective to the creation and modification of applications and systems.
Conducts meetings with nursing staff and other members of the healthcare teams to promote goal accomplishment, policy compliance and professional development. Monitors and makes recommendations to Regional Management regarding nursing support and staff to meet patient and contract needs.
Organizes the delivery of nursing care within the corrections environment to achieve quality and efficient utilization of resources. Develops resources to provide nursing services that meet applicable standards. Monitors the efficient delivery of appropriate and safe nursing care.
Troubleshoots and assists site/regional management with problem resolution, including staffing needs at the site level within the region.
Qualifications of the Corizon Health Regional Director of Nursing (RDON)
Must have solid experience in a nursing leadership role for a minimum of 5 years.
Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field. Master's Degree in nursing or related field preferred.
5 years of experience in healthcare administration setting.
Active RN license in state where position is located with unrestricted/non probationary status; Specialty certification desired (i.e. CCHP, ACHE, etc.)
