  • JOB SUMMARY
    Working in conjunction with the Clinic Physician and Clinic Supervisor, the Medical Assistant ensures excellence in patient and family care, reflective of Campbell County Memorial Hospital & Campbell County Clinic’s mission, vision and values. Performs medical testing and treatment within scope of competency completion in accordance with physician’s orders including, but not limited to; lab tests, x-rays, EKG’s, spirometry and audiometry. Performs other duties as assigned.
  • PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
    • Obtains appropriate patient medical history necessary to perform diagnostic procedures as ordered; radiology, laboratory, audiometry (if applicable) and spirometry.
    • Performs proper patient/specimen identification. Obtains and labels specimens appropriately and completely according to policy.
    • Performs patient intake of information, documents patient care and data collection appropriately in patient record.
    • Assist physician/provider with patient exams, including but not limited to patient positioning, collection of specimens, performance of non-invasive procedures, and general patient support .
    • Performs invasive procedures under the direct supervision of the clinic physician/provider.
    • Obtains blood specimens in a timely manner by venous puncture on patients of all ages without undue stress or injury to the patient while adhering to universal precautions procedures.
    • Retrieves test results and clinical documents from Zetafax (OB Clinic only)
    • Populates lab results into appropriate flow sheets accurately and in a timely fashion (OB Clinic only)
    • Maintains quality and safety compliance of the lab area (OB Clinic only)
    • Verifies accurate handling of all lab samples couriered from the clinic (OB Clinic only)
    • Ensures superior ongoing patient satisfaction and customer service. .
    • Communicates effectively with internal and external customers.
    • Maintains professional standards related to clinical practices, and continuing education.
    • Maintains a safe and clean environment.
    • Demonstrates efficient time management and prioritization skills.
    • Practices fiscal responsibility and accountability.
    • Maintains adequate stock of supplies by monitoring par levels.
    • Assists with scheduling, reception and computer work as needed.
    • Adheres to CCMH and Campbell County Clinic policies and procedures.
    • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
    • Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • May be required to work in other clinic environments according to distribution of staff and patient loads
  • JOB SPECIFICATIONS
    • Education: High School Diploma/GED, Medical Assistant Certification preferred upon hire. If Medical Assistant Certification is not present at the time of hire it is required the employee will become certified after one year of full time Medical Assistant experience or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
    • Licensure: Current radiology restricted license (areas I, II, III) – (Wright Clinic only) . Medical Assistant Certification preferred
    • Certification: It is the responsibility of the employee to maintain certification while employed as a Medical Assistant without lapse, at their own expense.
    • Must have current Healthcare Provider CPR or Red Cross Professional Rescuer Certification within 60 days of employment
    • Experience: One year medical assistant in clinic setting preferred. Phlebotomy experience preferred.
    • Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Inputting data/typing, copying, calibrating equipment, speaking clearly, answering telephone, precise eye/hand/foot coordination, fingering/fine dexterity, delicate/precise manipulation, handling/gripping, speed movements/velocity.
    • Interpersonal Skills: Positive communication with accuracy and compassion. Accountable. Reliable. Vigilant with patience and caring.
    • Essential Physical Requirements: Lifting/transferring/carrying/maneuver objects 40 lbs. maximum in the assessment and implementation of patient care. Must be capable of pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, and crouching/squatting. Able to work varied shifts including evenings and weekends.
    • Essential Mental Abilities: Requires higher level of mental faculties accompanied by short- and long-term memory. Calculations, interpreting numbers, analyzing, assessing/evaluating, explaining/teaching, synthesizing, attention to detail, spatial/form perception, memory, problem-solving/reasoning. Ability to function in stressful situations.
    • Essential Sensory Requirements: corrected vision, hearing to normal range
    • Exposure to Hazards: OSHA CATEGORY I. TASK THAT INVOLVE EXPOSURE TO BLOOD, BODY FLUIDS, OR TISSUES. All procedures or other job-related tasks that involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or potential for spills or splashes of them, are Category I Tasks. Use of appropriate protective measures is required for every employee engaged in Category I Tasks.
