Responsibilities

Therapists (Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist)
Home care allows you to get a full understanding of each patient’s needs!
Duties include:
  • Initiating, evaluating, developing, implementing, documenting, supervising and revising plans of care for patients
  • Coordinating patient care with other staff members and physicians
  • Documenting patient assessment, needs and care
  • Assisting with coordinating and teaching rehabilitative care programs to meet the needs of staff, patients, caregivers and the community
  • Supervising Therapy Assistants (if applicable)

Qualifications

Requirements for Physical Therapists:
Home care is both challenging and rewarding! This job requires a person who can work independently, while never forgetting that home care is a team effort.
Other requirements include:
  • Graduate of an approved school of physical therapy approved by the American Physical Therapy Association
  • One year of clinical experience as a physical therapist
  • Licensed as a physical therapist by the State of Alabama
  • Knowledge of geriatric problems
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Respecting the patient’s privacy and maintaining confidentiality
  • Ability to turn, lift, carry and otherwise transport patients
  • Current Alabama driver’s license and automobile liability insurance
  • CPR Certification

Requirements for Occupational Therapists:
Home care is both challenging and rewarding! This job requires a person who can work independently, while never forgetting that home care is a team effort.
Other requirements include:
  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program or completion of the American Occupational Therapist Association career mobility program
  • Successful completion of a minimum of six months of Level II field work experience
  • Successful completion of the American Occupational Therapist Association Certification Examination for Occupational Therapy Registered
  • One year of clinical experience
  • Current American Occupational Therapist Association Certification Licensure by the State of Alabama
  • Knowledge of geriatric problems
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Respecting the patient’s privacy and maintaining confidentiality
  • Ability to turn, lift, carry and otherwise transport patients
  • Current Alabama driver’s license and automobile liability insurance
  • CPR Certification

Requirements for Speech Therapists:
Home care is both challenging and rewarding! This job requires a person who can work independently, while never forgetting that home care is a team effort.
Other requirements include:
  • Graduate of an approved School of Speech Pathology with a Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology
  • CFY and CCC from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
  • One year of experience in home health care
  • One year of experience in clinical speech pathology
  • Licensure by the State of Alabama Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology and Audiology
  • Certificate of Clinical Competency form the Speech-Language-Hearing Association
  • Knowledge of geriatric problems and neurological conditions
  • Experience in treating swallowing disorders
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Respecting the patient’s privacy and maintaining confidentiality
  • Current Alabama driver’s license and automobile liability insurance
  • CPR Certification
