Providence is calling a Lab Aid (Clinical Laboratory Services, Variable Shift, 0.0 FTE) to St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Montana. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all – especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

This is a supplemental variable shift role. You will be expected to work day, evening and night shift roles on both weekdays and weekends.

In this position you will:

  • Assure that specimens are transported to the correct area in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure that any specimen that arrives in the laboratory does not go unattended.
  • Properly label specimens and receives them in the computer including all pertinent information.
  • Notify appropriate personnel of problems related to specimen collection or testing.
  • Prioritize STAT, timed, routine testing
  • Utilize a collaborative interdisciplinary approach to ensure that testing is completed at the appropriate time.
  • Follow standard precautions at all times.
  • Use computer efficiently including ordering of tests and printing and reviewing unreceived specimen report.
  • Provide accurate answers to questions from physicians, nurses and other professionals in a timely manner.
  • Assist with monitoring inventory.
  • Clean laboratory dishware, phlebotomy tray and other areas of the laboratory as needed.
  • Keep leadership apprised of problems, workflow and other relevant issues.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Less than one year of experience as a phlebotomist and/or completion of the Emma Dickinson Lifelong Learning Center Phlebotomy program

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • High School diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED)
  • Phlebotomy certificate
