1. Must be an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with a current license in the State of Kentucky to provide psychiatric treatment to youth up to 17 years of age. Prefer ability to treat adults of all ages in addition to youth.
2. Experience in a behavioral health setting preferred.
3. Prefer experience working with children of all ages and adults.
4. Ability to work within a team and take direction
5. Must be familiar with using an EHR medical charting system. (CareLogic/Qualifacts preferred)
6. Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
7. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
8. Demonstrate proven sensitivity to the various cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of Children’s Home clients and staff, including a commitment to use of the Sanctuary Model and to the philosophy of All Children, All Families framework of cultural competencies.
Position Summary:
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) will provide psychiatric pharmalogical services to clients served at CHNK Behavioral Health, performing duties typically associated with an APRN position in a behavioral health setting. Location is in Northern Kentucky, primarily in Covington. Position is scheduled to work 24 hours per week.
Essential Job Functions
1. Perform psychiatric assessments, perform and interpret diagnosis evaluation, diagnose and treat psychiatric disorders, provide evidence based interventions, counseling, and prescribe medications as needed to patients in need of pharmaceutical interventional treatment.
2. Update patient records and check records for accuracy at each patient appointment.
3. Analyze test data and determine the need for follow-up appointments and further treatment options.
4. Deliver quality care while maintaining all company metrics pertaining to productivity.
5. Serve as the resource patients need for ongoing care information, counseling and provide guidance for any patients with critical conditions.
6. Help patients manage their well-being with patient education.
7. Ensure patient information, visit history, refer outs, lab follow-up, phone calls, and consults are carefully and completely documented in the EMR.
8. Identify opportunities within local communities for development of outreach activities.
9. Daily use of computer, software programs (EMR), printer, and scanner as needed.
10. Develop a closeworking relationship with treatment team and community partners of CHNK Behavioral Health.
11. Perform non-clinical tasks as required (e.g. responding to email correspondence, maintain training requirements, maintain professional clinic appearance).
12. Responsible for coordinating resident appointments and medication related needs with the consulting psychiatrist as required by licensing/contract or directed by child’s medical needs.
13. Responsible for coordinating the completion and documentation of all medical appointments according to agency policy and procedure.
14. Responsible for Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement activities and Risk Management of medical and medication related events.
15. Knowledge and use of the Sanctuary Model of trauma informed care. Use of the S.E.L.F. framework in service delivery as well as adherence to, and modeling of, the Seven Commitments when interacting with others and conducting one’s self.
16. Coordinates with CHNK Quality Team regarding the maintenance of licenses and certifications related to clinical practices and agency policy standards.
17. Provide crisis intervention as needed.
18. Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
19. Attend required trainings as assigned.
20. Perform other duties as assigned by Chief Programming Officer.
Physical demands and work environment:
1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, kneel, squat, and hold objects or carry.
2. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and sometimes move and/or lift up to 100 pounds in order to utilize Safe Crisis Management techniques.
3. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
4. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
5. The environment consists of indoor and outdoor activities with different temperatures.
6. Cleaning and using cleaning materials, including chemicals are a demand of this position.
