P/T Receptionist/Medical Records Clerk

This position will be split between doing file clerk duties PT in Medical Records and doing receptionist duties PT. Receives and directs calls, visitors, and mail to the appropriate staff. Maintains the appearance and operations of the reception area. Speaks to internal and external customers and callers in a courteous and professional manner. Keeps accurate records and identifies all visitors by checking proper identification and/or drivers license in compliance with Bernalillo Academy’s Policies and Procedures, as well as state licensing standards, which includes checking that all visitors are approved for visitations and that all visitors complete and sign in and complete a confidentiality agreement, visitors pass will then be issued. Organizes and scans documents in the network database utilizing the equipment provided in a timely and efficient manner. Provides clerical support to all departments as requested. Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor & Directors. Checks mail/receiving at appropriate times every day. Files, alphabetizes and organizes the medical records as directed by the Medical Records Manager.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
Answer phones, screen and direct calls as well as take and relay messages as needed. Provide information to callers and answer queries from the public and customers. Greet ALL persons entering lobby and direct as necessary. Creates an environment that demonstrates BA as service friendly and professional for all internal and external customers. Ensure knowledge of staff and client movements in and out of organization. General administrative and clerical support including: preparing letters and documents, receive and sort mail and deliveries, and transmit information or documents to staff, using computer, mail or facsimile machine.
High school diploma or GED; high degree of communication, both orally and written; Exceptional documentation skills; Strong professional and personal boundaries; Be energetic; Self-motivated; Maintain professionalism and confidentiality; Possess individual judgment, discretion and decision making skills; Possess a valid New Mexico Driver’s License/ID; Maintain current CPR/First Aid Certificate; Maintain current Handle with Care certificate/training; Obtain a background clearance with CYFD; Possess a cleared report of negative TB skin test.
- Ability to obtain a CYFD Fingerprint Clearance.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
