This position is primarily responsible for providing support with the daily activities of a medical office including patient reception and registration, appointment scheduling, and diagnostic testing management by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Greets patients and vendors, handles their inquiries, and directs them to the appropriate persons according to their needs.
Maintains appearance and environment of waiting areas based on company standards and expectations.
Registers patients by verifying that the patient's record is up to date and accurate. Makes appropriate changes and stores necessary documentation via electronic medical records (EMR).
Instructs new patients in completion of medical history and information forms.
Confirms patients' insurance eligibility with insurance companies and/or via the EMR system.
Prepares for appointments by previewing patient records to ensure that all necessary follow-up is completed in both clinical and administrative aspects.
Schedules appointments and maintains appointment ticklers within EMR.
Conducts reminder calls to patients for diagnostic testing.
Operate the diagnostic testing program within each local office (for Home Sleep Apnea Testing, Nocturnal Oximetry, and Actigraphy) including programing, training patients on usage, collecting data, and managing inventory.
Receives, sorts, and routes mail. Receives and inventories office and clinical supplies.
Collects payment from patients and reconciles daily cash reports. Collects payments for retail items sold within the practice.
Encounter Reviews: Analyzes and reviews medical records for completeness and accuracy of documentation according to specified standards.
Confers with health personnel to certify complete, current, and accurate medical records.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma required; Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
