As a Physical Therapy Assistant with AbilisHealth, you will be responsible for providing care that complies with our agency standards, policies, and procedures as well as state and federal guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Under the general and direct supervision of the physical therapist, the physical therapy assistant treats patients to relieve pain, develop or restore function and maintain maximum performances, using physical means, such as exercise, massage, heat, water, light and electricity.
• Directs and aids patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re-education and gait and functional training activities of daily living including transfer activities and prosthetic training.
• Observes, records, and reports to the attending physician, physical therapist and other staff, the patient's reactions to treatments and any changes in the patient's condition or plan of care.
• Instructs patients and their caregivers when applicable in the care and proper use of equipment and devices such as wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, prosthetic and orthotic devices.
• Instructs other health team personnel, patients and/or caregivers in certain phases of therapeutic exercises with which they may work with the patient, such as transfer, exercise program, appliance use, ADL, gait training and etc.
• Ensures that patient homes are suitable for their recovery.
• Documents services rendered as well as how the patient is responding to treatment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Minimum of one year direct patient care experience preferably in home care.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATIONS:

• Current Tennessee Physical Therapy Assistant license
• Current CPR certification
• Valid driver license and automobile insurance as required by Tennessee State Law
