• Anchorage, AlaskaJOB SUMMARY: Under general direction, coordinates project planning and implementation. Works as a member of a multidisciplinary team and with other stakeholders and partners to successfully plan and execute a project for the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium Community Health Services and ensures that all tasks are completed on schedule.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Oversees the day-to-day management of all activities related to a public health promotion project including project planning, development and implementation. Coordinates the project team and external stakeholder, partner agencies and project advisory groups throughout the duration of the project and adheres to the project schedule to ensure timely completion of all project activities and logistics.
Recognizes behavioral health issues and provides general information to project participants and the community that incorporates that recognition, and if necessary, advocate for participant’s needs and rights. Along the primary job responsibilities, interfaces with other health service providers and staff to provide coordinated planning and services for project participants. Demonstrates an understanding of the professional boundaries and models appropriate professional behavior within the community.
Tracks the day-to-day activities required to ensure project tasks are completed on time, successfully, and in a manner consistent with project goals, departmental policies, and/or the funding agency’s terms and conditions, if applicable.
Coordinates assigned staff in all aspects of the planning, design and implementation of a large scale public health promotion project. Manages communication channels between all project partners as well as any advisory groups and committees. Serves as the primary contact for internal and external project leads on the assigned project.
Establishes and maintains effective working relations with stakeholders, partners and advisory groups and committees, if applicable, to facilitate the implementation of all project goals.
Works closely with the project manager in the implementation of project scope and objectives as well as in developing project budgets and tracks invoicing as appropriate. Assists in the development of detailed work plans, which include clear milestones and assignment of project task responsibilities and schedules, as well as the collection, analysis and reporting of project data and reports findings and outcomes as requested. Conducts project meetings and is responsible for project tracking analysis.
Communicates all of the requirements and commitments (both verbally and in writing) to the project manager, external partners and other ANTHC staff.

ADDENDUM TO PROGRAM COORDINATOR JOB DESCRIPTION
Community Outreach Program Coordinator
JOB SUMMARY: Under general direction plan, organize, and/or promote varying events and related program activities; symposiums, conferences, workshops, business meetings, focus groups, community presentations for the Substance Abuse Prevention Program.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Assists Substance Abuse Prevention Program Manager and the Wellness and Prevention Department in planning, implementing, and evaluating substance abuse-related programs, services, presentations, trainings, policies, procedures and community initiatives.
Serves as a subject matter expert/technical consultant for substance abuse/chemical dependency counseling while working in partnership with tribal health organizations in rural Alaska.
Ability to review and develop culturally responsive curriculum and trainings that include trauma informed care practices and substance abuse prevention, treatment and recovery services for sexual assault/ domestic violence providers.
Applies mental health/addiction counseling knowledge, skills, and abilities to develop case management procedures, skill-based trainings, education and prevention activities, and technical assistance in support of integrated services.
Researches, develops, implements and delivers health education and substance abuse prevention, treatment and recovery services materials and communications.
Conducts qualitative and quantitative evaluations such as needs assessments, literature reviews, and assessments to interpret and summarize in presentations or reports for public health and policy recommendations.
Experience working with and training various community members and healthcare providers, including Tribal Health Organizations, rural Alaska communities, and regional hubs.
Ability to travel to rural areas and communities throughout Alaska for Substance Abuse Prevention and other Wellness & Prevention-related activities.
Stay current on the latest national and international emerging substance misuse research, programs and interventions.
Provide input on strategic planning by recommending intervention and prevention strategies that address priority populations and the general public.
Effectively communicates and delivers public presentations, workshops, committee meetings and statewide trainings on substance abuse prevention and treatment practices.
Manages day-to-day activities, including scheduling of large events and coordination of trainings at partner sites.
Assists Substance Abuse Prevention Program Manager with grant writing and budget management.
Develops community partnerships to negotiate event venues, entertainment, speakers, vendors and sponsorships to be able to deliver assistance with prevention programs, grant objectives and messaging regarding substance abuse prevention and treatment.
Develops monthly, quarterly and annual reports providing progress and financial summaries; assists in monitoring and maintaining current program inventory and records.

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS
- Knowledge of substance abuse prevention and treatment.
- Knowledge of trauma informed and motivational interviewing practices.
- Knowledge in creating and disseminating health-related, culturally responsive, education materials and communications to include flyers, handouts, social media, calendars, and other related publications.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION
- Experience developing and presenting educational program curriculum and materials.
- Knowledge of sexual assault/domestic violence interventions.
- Training or experience specific to health promotion programming, including program development, implementation and/or evaluation.
- Training or experience in coordinating grants, grant writing and/or budget management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s or Bachelor Degree in social work, psychology, human services, counseling, substance abuse/addiction counseling or related field.
- One year experience working within a substance use-related or chemical dependency field.
Certified as a Chemical Dependency Counselor I (CDC-I) through the Alaska Commission on Behavioral Health Certification requirements, or Behavioral Health Counselor (BHC) I or
- higher with the State of Alaska, or certification by another certifying body, such as a state certifying affiliate of the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) or other similar recognized organization.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including occasional nights and weekends and travel to partner sites.
PREFERRED EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
- Hold an advanced degree (masters or doctoral level) in psychology, social work, counseling, or similar field with experience providing counseling services.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a health related field. Progressively responsible professional/exempt work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION
Non-supervisory – Four (4) years of health program or wellness experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience
