Supervisor of Respiratory Care - NICU, PICU, and Pediatrics - Respiratory Therapy

Providence is calling a Supervisor of Respiratory Care - NICU, PICU, and Pediatrics to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a night shift position. There will be two 8 hours shifts each week and two 12 hours shifts per week.

In this position you will:

  • Create supportive systems that enable and empower team members to achieve goals and objectives of the department and patient care.

  • Seek creative methods to resolve conflicts that are consistent with the Core Values of the Providence Health & Services.

  • Direct daily workflow.

  • Perform assessment and evaluations to manage the resources needed to perform duties in the most effective and efficient manner.

  • Adjust resources as needed to meet productivity targets and patient needs. Ensure staff has the equipment and supplies to perform patient care assignments and other tasks.

  • Using independent judgment recommend and/or take action related to interviews, hires, transfers, promotions, performance evaluation, staffing management, disciplinary actions, and employee complaints, concerns, and feedback.

  • Hold direct reports accountable.

  • Responsible for completing personnel schedules assuring they meet the staffing needs, staffing targets and budget guidelines.

  • Responsible for and participate in the planning and formulation of policies and procedures for respiratory services.

  • Oversee operational compliance with standards set by regulatory agencies (such as State or Federal, JCAHO, CAP, CLIA, and OSHA). Work with Safety Committee to establish and monitor safety measures to detect and minimize hazards within the department.

  • Establish clear clinical practice expectations for patient care areas using department philosophy.

  • Be expected to cover call on a rotating basis with other members of the management team, and may be expected to carry a cell phone (provided by the department) when on call.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Graduate of a Respiratory Therapy education program accredited by the Joint Commission on Respiratory Therapy Education (JCRTE)

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification and ability to obtain the Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist (NPS) through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) within 1 year of hire - Must provide proof of recredentialing every 5 years, if required by NBRC

  • Certifications required upon hire:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

  • Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) certification

  • 5 years of recent experience in Respiratory Care

  • 2 years of experience with Respiratory Therapy in the NICU or PICU

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Associates Degree in Respiratory Care

  • 2 years previous supervisory experience in Respiratory Care
