Summary:
Perform day-to-day nursing administrative duties such as; order entry, coordination and scheduling of patient transportation, ordering of supplies, and assistance with medical record needs of the unit and campus in accordance with established company policies and procedures, standards, and guidelines; and current federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing the campus and as directed by the supervisor by performing the following duties.

Education, Licensure and Experience:
  • Successful completion of a state approved Nurses Assistant and Medication Aide course and certified by the State DHHS.
  • Must be on the state Nursing Assistant Registry and Medication Aide registry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Assist with admission, discharge, and transfer of patients including, but not limited to:
  • Input demographic and medical informational into electronic medical record including physician orders.
  • Notifying appropriate staff and departments of patient admission, discharges, transfers, and changes.
  • Assisting to ensure patient rooms and supplies/equipment are ready and available upon admission.
  • Complete and post BIPPA hours posting.
  • Assist to coordinate services such as lab scheduling, transportation, and related services to promote efficiency of operations and continuity and quality of transportation services.
  • Coordination of patient appointments and transportation.
  • Maintaining campus databases and schedules as delegated (bath schedules, recertification forms, immunizations,
etc.)
  • Assist with obtaining and submitting documentation requests from Medicare, insurance companies, and similar requests.
  • Maintain patient’s records including, but not limited to filing documents, sending and tracking doctor’s orders, and related duties.
  • Miscellaneous duties include, but not limited to greeting and directing patients and visitors, answering phone, and restocking nurse’s station with necessary documents.
  • Monitor and report problems or changes in patient, including changes in physical, emotional, and cognition status to the Director of Nursing.
  • Address and report any concerns voiced by patients and their families immediately.
  • Communicate with Director of Nursing regarding issues affecting the Nursing department and the campus including, but not limited to staffing, patient care issues, changes, and any additional needs or concerns.
  • Participate and assist with regularly scheduled meetings such as nursing meetings, QA meetings, staff meetings, and similar meetings.
  • Possess, maintain, and use a practical knowledge base regarding issues and regulations affecting the campus, the Nursing department, billing, medical records, and supplies and staffing.
  • Document and perform all duties outlined above accurately and completely.
  • Perform all work assignments and work schedules as instructed by supervisor in accordance with established policies and procedures including, but not limited to Safety, Infection Control, Nursing, Personnel, Patient Rights including confidentiality and grievances, Abuse and Neglect, and HIPAA. Report any concerns regarding standard of practice of other staff members immediately to their supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Language Skills:
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the language of the majority cultural group in order to communicate with the patients/tenants, families, and staff. Must be able to hear enough to understand the patients/tenants, families, and staff. Ability to read and understand documents such as Physician orders, MARS, patient/tenant charts, safety rules, assignment sheets, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and common fractions required in calculating billing, staffing ratios, and related issues.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form. Ability to deal with problems using common sense and judgment. Must be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

Computer Skills:
Basic computer knowledge with the ability to learn clinical documentation software.

Other Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications:
  • Must be able to provide care for and develop rapport with older adults.
  • Basic office skills such as answering phones, faxing, and directing visitors.
  • Ability to cope with the physical and emotional stress of the position as team member is subject to hostile or emotionally upset patients/tenants, personnel, and/or visitors.
  • Ability to function independently given assigned duties.
  • Ability to prioritize and remain calm while being faced with multiple tasks.
