Shift: Full-Time, Night (36 hours weekly)

St. Vincent’s Birmingham Hospital:

St. Vincent’s Birmingham is located downtown and it has over 400 beds and provides space for many physician offices. We are currently in a large renovation project to create more patient rooms and waiting areas. St. Vincent’s provides care for many patients within the downtown area and surrounding communities. St. Vincent’s Health System is the first and only health system in the nation to hold the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC)’s heart accreditations in all three areas, those include atrial fibrillation, heart failure and chest pain. St. Vincent's Cardiovascular Care Center offers a variety of services to assist patients with cardiovascular problems. These services aid in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

As a Registered Respiratory Therapist with St. Vincent's Health System, you will have the opportunity to provide evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.

You will:

  • Assess patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop a plan of care based on diagnosis.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plan and equipment. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition. Perform advanced respiratory care modalities.
  • Evaluate respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcome.
  • Educate the patient and family about the health condition and provides information about community support groups and other available programs.
  • Respond to emergency resuscitation team code.

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):
    • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Advanced Life Support can be in lieu of Basic Life Support
    • One or more of the following:
      • Respiratory Therapist credentialed from the Alabama Board of Respiratory Therapy obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
      • Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Preferred Credential(s):
    • Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA).
    • Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation.
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree required

Work Experience:

  • None required.
