Primary Job Function



The receptionist answers the telephone, makes sure the patient is comfortable while waiting for the physician, schedules acute visits, physicals, and follow-up appointments in a timely manner, registers patients in the computer system gathering all demographic information, as well as, necessary information for billing purposes, maintains adequate inventory of supplies, enters charges and receipts daily, and collects payment for service provided.



Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:



High School Diploma or its equivalent, required.



One year previous medical/business office experience preferred.



Basic computer application skills essential.



Basic math skills sufficient to balance cash drawer and daily reports.



Strong organizational skills in order to manage multiple issues simultaneously combined with ability to effectively prioritize.



Ability to be discrete and protect the integrity of confidential information.



Interpersonal skills in order to relate to physician, staff and patients.



A strong customer service orientation.



Working Conditions:



Typical office environment.



Requires ability to work extended hours if necessary depending on the needs of the practice.



Physical and Mental Activities, Tools and Equipment:



Occasional manipulation of large volumes of books, reports, or files.



Use of personal computer and other standard office equipment (e.g. telephone, fax, copier, calculator).



Prolonged sitting, data entry with extreme attention to detail.
