Summary/Objective

The Federal Case Manager is responsible for providing best practices in case management to assist federal residents placed at Volunteers of America Northern Rockies Booth Hall Residential Reentry Center in gradually reintegrating into the community by providing opportunities to acquire necessary skills for self-improvement, and to practice law-abiding behavior upon release.

Essential Functions

  • Provide best practices in case management to help federal residents reintegrate into their community and to practice law-abiding behaviors upon release.
  • Work in conjunction with the Social Service Coordinator regarding each resident's program.
  • Develop and implement an individual program plan for each resident. The individual program plan is considered the "roadmap" for the resident's case management and addresses all the of resident's needs and risks identified through assessments and information provided by the Bureau of Prison (BOP).
  • Conduct bi-weekly progress reviews with assigned residents and documenting their progress or lack of efficiently.
  • Supervise and monitor every resident assigned to ensure compliance with their program plan as well as VOA and BOP policies and procedures.
  • Maintain compliance of all standards related to case management as determined by the BOP and VOA policies and procedures.
  • Maintain effective and efficient communication as well as working collaboratively with the United States Probation Office (USPO), Bureau of Prisons (BOP) and all other agencies involved with each resident assigned.
  • Provide accurate, detailed and up to date information for every resident at scheduled Program Review Team Meetings or when case updates are requested.
  • Document all interactions with residents or any other individual related to a resident in Securmanage.
  • Complete and submit professional documentation as required by VOA, BOP or USPO.
  • Ensure all files and documentation is always audit ready.
  • Conduct internal audits on files and report any deficiencies to the Federal Program Director.
  • Participate, provide documentation and engage in all audits on the Federal Program.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a residential community corrections facility. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, program-specific computer programs, photocopiers, and smartphones. The job also requires field checks out in the community.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of this position are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm except for one or two days per week were designated as a "late night" to meet with working residents. On call requires you to be the point of contact for one week after business hours for identified priority incidents.

Travel

Travel will be necessary with this position; traveling for field checks within a 100-mile radius when applicable. Other travel with the position will be for specific training, conferences or court appearances.

Required Education, Experience or Eligibility Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in social services, human services, criminal justice or behavioral science program from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of one year of experience must be working in human services, corrections, or community-based services. Work experience may be substituted for academic studies exchanging one year of work experience in a related field for one year of academic education. Total work experience needed instead of the combination of education, and work experience is five years.
  • This position requires clearance and approval from the Bureau of Prison and their background check. You cannot have one or more felony convictions, any misdemeanor convictions involving assaultive, abusive or violent behavior, currently, be on supervised or unsupervised probation, current or pending criminal charges or court proceedings, have two or more DUIs, public intoxication, or disorderly conduct within the last three years. Any criminal history, law enforcement contact, etc., is requested to be disclosed. Failure to disclose any law enforcement contact, charges or criminal history in advance will automatically disqualify the applicant for the position.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Two or more years of work experience in human services, corrections or community-based services.
