Provides timely and courteous service to patients, physicians, and hospital staff by performing laboratory analysis accurately and efficiently. Detects unusual conditions and assumes responsibility for problem solving. Establishes standards of practice and performance and installs methods to monitor their achievement.
Job Requirements
Education: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) certification (ASCP, NCA or equivalent) required. Associate’s Degree in Science required, Bachelor of Science preferred. Experience: Minimum of 1 year clinical lab experience or equivalent clinical lab training program preferred. Skills: Must possess clinical lab technical skills along with phlebotomy and clerical/computer skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, guests/visitors/family, physicians, and hospital personnel. Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit, bend and stand for extended periods (6-8 hrs), walk at least 6 hours per day, lift/carry 25 pounds, hear alarms and telephone rings, distinguish colors, perform repetitive tasks/motions, have good eye/hand/foot coordination, and have clear vision at 20 or more feet with vision corrective device.
