Primary Job Function
Exceeds the expectations of patients and visitors by creating an extraordinary experience in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department and MGH by greeting people warmly, sincerely, and with empathy.
Organizes and conducts Occupational Therapy treatment programs to facilitate rehabilitation of physically handicapped patients; evaluates patients as ordered by the physician; and directs patient participation in therapeutic activities selected to restore or develop functional performance.
Techniques include teaching of skills, training in compensatory techniques or adaptive devices or environment to promote independence level to its highest potential
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
A graduate of an accredited schoolof Occupational Therapy and completion of clinical requirements resulting in attainment of a Bachelor of Science or Masters degree. Must have successfully passed the National Registration Examination and be certified to practice Occupational Therapy in the State of Indianaor be certificate eligible. Must have strong interpersonal skills in order to relate to patients, physicians and other staff members of other disciplines with goals being effective, efficient care of the patient.
Working Conditions:
This position requires the employee to be at risk for occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials.
Employee must be able to work holidays and weekends as the need arises.
Employee will work in a well lighted, comfortable clinic setting conducive to effective patient care activities.
Physical and Mental Activities, Tools and Equipment:
Requires lifting up to 50 pounds and push/pulling patients up to 300 pounds using support help as indicated. Teaches use of adaptive equipment to facilitate activities of daily living, diagnostic equipment to assist in patient evaluations and therapeutic equipment utilized in treatment of patients.
Requires daily use of personal computer as well as some office equipment ( e.g. telephone, fax copier ).
