The Behavioral Health Paraprofessional takes a lead role in supporting the Treatment team and the Behavioral Tech Manager. This person will provide support and mentoring with staff training on a day to day basis while remaining responsible for providing quality patient care, which includes the demonstration of skills in basic monitoring of patient activities and behaviors and the ability to note and document to these behaviors and activities. This individual will assist in supporting group therapies, and will be expected to function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. In addition to working with clinical staff, this position will work closely with the Nursing department and be required to have a basic working knowledge of monitoring patient’s activities of daily living for adverse signs or symptoms. This will include communicating on an ongoing basis to the RN and supporting and accepting direction on an as needed basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Takes direction from the Clinical Team in supporting topic groups and, specific experiential therapy activities. To include but not be limited to, art activities, recreational activities, meditation, and guided imagery.
  • Supports the completion of all documentation of progress notes and maintaining compliance with the policies and procedures of the facility to include daily documentation of patient activities that relates to clinical and medical needs.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor at all times. Becomes knowledgeable of E.D.specific behaviors, food rituals and dress restrictions as per policy and complies with these requirements. Participates in all training activities and maintains own log of training received.
  • Participates as a team player in Rosewood milieu (i.e. active member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, works harmoniously with nursing and clinical staff.)

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older in accordance with Dept of Health Services R9-20-204
  • Able to walk and work standing on feet up to 75% of the day. Must have level of mobility necessary to meet patients’ needs. Able to lift up to 50 pounds (i.e.: luggage).
  • A combination of education in a field related to Behavioral Health and full-time Behavioral Health work experience totaling at least 4 years OR Minimum 1 year work experience, providing a basic medical knowledge or as a Nurse Tech. Eating Disorder knowledge preferred.

PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS: Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
