  • Assists providers/nurses with exams and minor in-office procedures which include taking patients’ blood pressure, documenting respiration and heart rate/pulse, taking temperature, accuchecks as well as performing all phlebotomies, ear irrigation, wound care, urine dips, drug screens and EKGs. Acts as chaperon as needed. Uses universal blood and body fluid precautions at all times and personal protective equipment as needed. Responsible for prioritization of patient flow through clinical process.
  • Coordinates and manages patient care including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions and scheduling of patients for providers, hospital and other ancillary medical treatments and tests. Acts as a resource to clinician in order to provide optimal patient care.
  • Provides clerical support with patient/client notifications and documentation to include but not limited to complete medical records including labs, authorizations, X-Rays, hospital records and any previous care pertaining to each patient visit. Scan and index documents for EMR file as directed. Provides complete and accurate information necessary for billing related to the patient encounter in a timely fashion. Secures member information and maintains member confidence by updating members’ files, completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping member information confidential
  • Maintains a clean, functional environment including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms and storage areas. Disinfects equipment and instruments using appropriate solutions following sterilization procedures. Follows manufacturer's recommendations and OSHA guidelines in handling of hazardous substances. Performs basic maintenance of equipment. Ordering and monitors inventory including medications, lab supplies, immunizations (e.g. expired medications/equipment and recalls).
  • Develops and maintains effective communication mechanism with all external and internal customers. Exemplifies service orientation and the team concept in all contacts. Follow any project within scope established by supervising RMA.
  • Will also function as Behavioral Health technician. Responsibilities include but not limited to: observes patient’s behavior progress/decline, staff support/encouragement, eating meals/snacks with patients, bathroom monitoring/assistance, patient rounds, luggage searches/room searches.

Qualifications: Requires a High school diploma or GED certificate. Preferred graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants. Prefer at least one (1) year of relevant related experience, preferably in clinic setting. Preferred or be eligible to sit for the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification exam. Must have ability to work with diverse mental health population. Requires excellent communication, patience, time management and leadership skills. Excellent inter-personal, strong analytical, and problem-solving skills. CPR/FA
